I teach in school. I saw how much time teachers lose to paperwork: filling report forms, sorting merit lists, sending results to parents. I started coding to fix it. Gredli is what came out of that.
Background
My name is Rodgers Owuor Ondago. I grew up in Kagan, Rangwe sub-county, Homa Bay County, Kenya. I work as a school teacher, and that experience is the reason Gredli exists.
Teaching gives me a close look at something that rarely gets talked about: the amount of time teachers spend on paperwork rather than teaching. Every term, report forms had to be filled by hand. Merit lists had to be sorted manually. Marks lived in exercise books, then spreadsheets, then got lost. And all of it had to be done again next term.
I liked coding and started learning seriously. The more I learned, the more clearly I could see how software could remove that burden from teachers completely, not just reduce it.
Gredli is the result of that. It is built by someone who teaches in those classrooms, understands what teachers actually need, and knows that the tool has to be affordable or free for it to reach the schools that need it most.
What I build
Gredli
A school assessment management application for primary, junior and senior schools. It handles assessments, marks entry, report forms, merit lists, bulk SMS and teacher documents. It is offline-ready, works on any device, and is free to start.

The paperwork in schools is not a small problem. At the end of every term, teachers spend days filling individual report forms for each learner, manually adding up marks, sorting positions, and writing comments. It is exhausting work that has nothing to do with teaching.
Most software that tries to help with this is either too expensive for ordinary schools, requires constant internet, or is built for a desktop when most teachers only have a phone. The tools that exist were not built for the schools I know.
I wanted to build something that worked offline, ran on any phone, and was either free or cheap enough that any school could afford it. Not a watered-down free version designed to frustrate. It is a free version that genuinely covers what most schools need day to day.
Teachers should spend their time teaching. Gredli is built to give them that time back.
How Gredli is built
The tools and technology behind the app.
Flutter
The mobile app is built with Flutter, which lets it run on Android, iOS and web from a single codebase, keeping it consistent and fast on every platform.
Supabase
The backend runs on Supabase, handling the database, user authentication, real-time data sync and server-side logic through edge functions.
Firebase
Push notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, so teachers are notified instantly when something changes or a payment comes in.
